Task Points – Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 10, 2026

Task Points is a private family chores and rewards app made by the Souther family. It runs on our own computer and is not offered to the public. This page explains what the app does with Google account data.

What the app accesses

When a family member signs in with Google, the app asks permission to:

  • Read and manage Google Tasks (Google Tasks API), so it can show the family’s task lists, add tasks, and mark tasks complete.
  • Send email (Gmail API, “send” permission only), used only to email a password-reset code to the parent. The app cannot read, search, or delete any email.

How the data is used

Task data from Google Tasks is used only to display tasks, track completed chores, and calculate points inside the app. Nothing is used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than running the app for our family.

Where the data is stored

Tasks, points, and settings are stored in a file on the family’s own computer. The app keeps its Google sign-in token in that same file. We do not operate a server and we do not collect your data. Nothing is sent to us or to any third party, other than the requests the app makes directly to Google to read and update Google Tasks and to send a reset email.

Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer Google user data to anyone. No person at any company can see it.

Google API Services User Data Policy

Task Points’ use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Your control

You can disconnect Google at any time from the app’s Settings page. You can also remove the app’s access at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. Uninstalling the app and deleting its data folder removes everything it stored.
